Accessibility at Nanda & Associate Lawyers

Statement of Commitment

At Nanda & Associate Lawyers Professional Corporation, we are committed to fostering an inclusive, accessible, and barrier-free environment to all of our clients, visitors, and employees.

Accessibility is embedded in our values of Integrity, Respect, and Excellence — ensuring that everyone can engage with our services and within our workplace with dignity, independence, and equality of opportunity.

Inclusivity to us means more than compliance; it means cultivating an environment where accessibility is a shared responsibility and where every interaction — whether in person at our offices, online through our website, or within our community — reflects understanding, empathy, and fairness.

Accessibility Standards

We are committed to meeting the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR), and being in full compliance with the principles outlined in the Ontario Human Rights Code.

Our goal is to identify, remove, and prevent barriers to accessibility across all areas of our operations — from client service and communication to employment and use of our facilities.

Providing Services to People with Disabilities

We are committed to serving all clients and visitors in a manner that reinforces their dignity, independence, and equality.
To ensure accessible client service, we will:

  • Provide access to legal services in a way that considers an individual’s disability and promotes their independence.
  • Communicate with clients in methods that meet their accessibility needs, while ensuring their privacy and confidentiality.
  • Facilitate their use of assistive devices, service animals, and support persons in all areas of our firm.
  • Offer alternative communication and meeting formats to accommodate disabled individuals.

Communication

We recognize that effective communication is a key to accessibility.
All communication between firm members and persons with disabilities will consider individual needs and preferred formats — whether face-to-face, over the telephone, or electronically.

Accommodations may include the use of assistive devices, interpreters, or alternate formats, and will always be arranged in consultation with the individual while respecting their confidentiality and privacy.

Design of Public Spaces

When constructing or modifying public spaces, such as the reception area, client waiting rooms, and meeting spaces, we comply with the Design of Public Spaces Standards under the AODA.
We will also maintain procedures in place to:

  • Prevent service disruptions to accessible areas
  • Provide reasonable notice and assistance during any temporary disruptions

Notice of Temporary Disruptions

If there is a planned or unexpected disruption to services or facilities that may impact accessibility (such as building maintenance or elevator repairs), we will provide advance notice by:

  • Posting updates on our website
  • Displaying notices at reception and accessible entrances
  • Updating our voicemail system
  • Notifying affected clients directly where possible

All reasonable efforts will be made to minimize inconvenience and ensure there are alternative arrangements to meet their needs.

Employment Accessibility

We are committed to creating and maintaining a workplace that is inclusive and equitable for all employees.
In keeping with AODA requirements, we will:

  • Inform successful candidates of our accommodation policies during the hiring process.
  • Develop individual accommodation plans and return-to-work processes for employees with disabilities.
  • Consider accessibility needs in all aspects of employment, including performance management, career development, and redeployment.

Our objective is to ensure that all employees can perform their roles effectively and safely, without any barriers to their employment with the Firm.

Emergency Information and Procedures

We will provide upon request and develop individualized workplace emergency response plans for employees who require them.
Confidential systems are already in place for employees who wish to communicate accessibility needs in relation to any emergency that may arise.

Website Accessibility

We are committed to maintaining an accessible digital presence.
Our website has been developed in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA standards, and we conduct periodic reviews to maintain compliance and usability.

Continuous Improvement

Accessibility is a journey — not a destination.
At Nanda & Associate Lawyers, we continuously review our policies, seek community feedback, and invest in initiatives that strengthen accessibility and inclusion for everyone we work with and those we serve.

We are proud to create a welcoming environment where our clients, visitors, and employees can fully participate in all aspects of Firm life.

Feedback Process

We welcome and value feedback on how we can make our services and spaces more accessible.
