Dr. Marlene Shiner has practiced family law for more than three decades and has guided hundreds of individuals and couples through the legal, financial and emotional challenges of separation and divorce.
She holds a PhD in Law from Cornell Law School, where her research focused on divorce and family law. Throughout her career, she has worked extensively with families navigating financially complex and emotionally difficult transitions.
Dr. Shiner is also a child of divorce and has experienced divorce personally. These experiences have deepened her understanding of the emotional and financial realities families face during separation and divorce.
Over the course of her career, she has come to believe that the way clients choose to divorce often matters more than the divorce itself. Her work focuses on helping clients approach separation and divorce thoughtfully, reduce conflict, and protect the well-being of their children.
Where conflict is present, Dr. Shiner is an experienced and zealous litigator on her clients’ behalves. She is a familiar presence in courts in Ontario where she has a track record of expert advocacy and positive outcomes for her clients.
